BJP to Get 330+ in 2024 LS Polls, Confident of Victory in MP & Rajasthan: Piyush Goyal
Piyush Goyal said that the BJP will get a clean sweep in North and North Western states and the party is looking at 80 and not less than 77 in UP in 2024 polls

A day ahead of the results in five states, Union Minister Piyush Goyal predicted that the BJP will win both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan assembly elections and went on to say that the saffron party will get a thumping majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan we are winning both comfortably,” the Union Minister said in a conversation with Network18 editor-in-chief Rahul Joshi at the 19th edition of the CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards (IBLA) on Saturday.

Goyal said that the BJP will comfortably win the Lok Sabha election with a clean sweep in the North and North Western states of the country.

“I am saying 330+ (seats). Chances are that the North and North Western belt will give us a clean sweep. We will be looking at 80, at least not less than 77, in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Aadityanath has brought back sanity in that State” he said.

He further said that the BJP will also gain seats in opposition-ruled states including Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Karnataka in the 2024 elections.

“We will repeat our performance in Chhattisgarh with 10-11 seats. In West Bengal, we will go up to 20. There will be a clean sweep in Karnataka. In Maharashtra too, we will bring 27/28 by ourselves,” the minister added.

Speaking on the opposition INDIA bloc, Piyush Goyal said there was a serious erosion of trust among the opposition parties.

“What will the regional leaders add to the seats outside their own regions? There is a serious erosion of trust. The country wants a decisive leader who delivers, who commits to make us the third largest economy in two years,” he said.

On the question of whether Rahul Gandhi’s perception had improved after the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said that the BJP should acknowledge the victory of the Congress in a few States.

“Every election is a standalone election. We have to give them the state they won. But at the National stage, the way the country has progressed in the last 10 years, empowerment of the common man has taken place. The aspirations of the common man have changed,” he said, adding that the BJP has not discriminated anyone while empowering people.

Responding to the question on the freebie culture introduced in several states, he said, “The PM believes that we should empower people. All our programs focus on saturation. Now, the culture of quality has seeped in. Within a few years, our per capita income will become $20,000.”

On the recent row over allegations against India regarding the killing of Canada-based militant Hardeep Singh Nijjar and the alleged ‘failed plot’ to kill designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Goyal said the “the allegations are baseless.”

“We go by the rules of international diplomacy. Nobody can imagine government-sponsored activities like these. Whoever is responsible should be brought to the books. I can assure you that the government of India doesn’t do these things. There were much bigger fish we would have gone behind, if we were to do something like this,” he said.

The Union Minister also said that it will take India another seven years to double its economy. “It won’t take more than 25 years to become 35 trillion dollars economy,” he added.

Goyal also spoke about Tesla and its possible entry into India, where he said that companies like Tesla cannot miss the bus when it comes to India’s huge domestic market.

“Be it Tata or Mahindra – electric cars are coming in a big way. In the next 7 years, I see all electric cars will be sold in India, Tesla wouldn’t like to miss the bus. We are well on track. Tesla will want our large domestic market,” he further added.
