The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced noteworthy changes in the examination pattern for commerce stream students preparing for the CBSE Class 12 board exams in 2024. One of the noteworthy changes entails the removal of answer books that traditionally contained printed tables, particularly in the subject of Accountancy. The change is slated to be implemented beginning with the board exams scheduled for the 2023-24 academic year.
The CBSE board made this pivotal announcement via an official notice directed toward the principals of all CBSE-affiliated schools. The notice, available as a PDF document, states, “It is informed that from Board Examination, 2024 CBSE based on feedback received from stakeholders has decided to do away with the Answer Books wherein tables were provided in the subject of Accountancy. From Examinations-2024, normal lines Answer Books as provided in other subjects in Class 12 will be provided in Accountancy subject also.”
In addition to the changes in the Class 12 Accountancy answer book pattern, CBSE has extended the deadline for the submission of registration data for students in classes 9 and 11 who are slated to appear in the 2023-24 board exams. The earlier deadline has been extended to accommodate the needs of schools and students. The revised last date for submitting registration data for classes 9 and 11 students, without incurring any late fees, has been pushed to October 25.
In another important announcement, CBSE has initiated the registration process for the Single Girl Child Scholarship for the year 2023. This scholarship programme is designed to support single-girl students and acknowledge the commendable efforts of parents in fostering education among girls. It also seeks to encourage and reward meritorious academic achievements. Students can apply for both fresh scholarships and renewals through the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in. The scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of a monthly stipend of Rs 500.
