In a shocking development, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has reappointed Mayank Sidhana back to the senior men’s selection committee, while Devang Gandhi has been appointed as the Head Coach.
Sidhana was fired alongside Gagan Khoda and Anil Bhardwaj less than a year ago in January 2023 after Saurashtra defeated Delhi mercilessly in the Ranji Trophy League stage by an innings and 214 runs.
“A certain office bearer was adamant in bringing Sidhana back to the mix. The association did not want any hiatus just ahead of the World Cup and had no option but to re-appoint Sidhana,” a senior DDCA official confirmed to News 18 CricketNext

CricketNext has also reliably learnt that a former India player was batting strongly for Sidhana.
Notably, Sidhana had staged a walk-off after fall out with Khoda over contradictions in the selection of the U-25 team. DDCA President Rohan Jaitley had then shot off a scathing e-mail to the Apex Council Members expressing his disapproval of the selection committee’s behaviour.
“I am stood compelled to write this mail for placing on record my disapproval of the manner in which the Men’s Selection Committees of the DDCA are discharging its affairs. It appears that such Committees are functioning without any visions and mission,” Jaitley had wrote after the incident in January.

Besides Sidhana, Robin Singh Jr., and Sowmik Chatterjee have been appointed in the selection committee. Robin Singh Jr. will chair the committee.
The Chairperson of the Cricket Advisory Committee will act as an observer to the selection committee or will appoint a nominee to do so.
The Coaching team and High Performance Group
While Devang Gandhi will be the Chief Coach for the Delhi team, V Arvind, Bantu Singh, and Punit Bisht have been appointed as assistant batting coach, assistant bowling coach, and assistant fielding coach respectively.
The DDCA has also appointed selection committees and coaching staff for senior women’s team, as well as age group teams for both men and women.
The Association has also appointed a High Performance Group which will look after young and emerging talent, train them and work closely with the senior and all age group men’s as well as women’s team committees.
