As Delhi’s air quality experiences a dip, people took to social media platforms and shared apocalyptic images and videos. The haze looks so thick that it resembled the aftermath of an apocalypse. Many parts of Delhi recorded their air quality in the ‘hazardous’ zone today. Weather agency aqicn.org measured the air quality index in Delhi’s Anand Vihar at 999, while Noida’s Sector 62 logged 469. The AQI in many parts of Delhi was above 500.
As a result, the Delhi government was forced to shut primary schools for two days. Gurugram has also taken measures to counter pollution.
Meanwhile, many took to ‘X’ and shared scary images and videos. “don’t know what is the reason but I have never experienced anything like this before in Delhi. By this time there should be winter fog, but all we can experience is dust and pollution. Delhi’s winter which used to last for 6 months has not even started yet,” wrote an ‘X’ user. Another person wrote, “Driving through Delhi streets at 1 pm: no sign of Sun.. total grey haze over city. POLLUTION season is back. This is what the US Ambassador Eric Garcetti just said: , ‘On a day like this in Delhi, it brings back memories of growing up in Los Angeles where the air was the most.”
