IND vs SA: Virat Kohli Calms Fired-up Gill as Marco Jansen Stares Shubman After 90m Six | WATCH
Virat Kohli calmed down a fired-up Shubman Gill after he had a stare-off with Marco Jansen following a 90m six from the Indian opener amid India vs South Africa clash.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli had to play the role of a peace-maker between Shubman Gill and Marco Jansen as things got heated between the duo. A fired-up Gill smashed a 90m six against Jansen after which the pacer seemed to give a long stare to the Indian opener.

Shubman responded by shaking his head before Virat urged the 23-year-old to keep his composure during a high-octane clash between India and South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.

Table toppers Indian team squared off against the second-placed South African side in a battle between the two most in-form teams of the World Cup 2023. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had won the toss and he elected to bat first, crucially trying to challenge the Proteas who have scored multiple 350-plus totals batting first.

The Hitman led his side from the front, giving an explosive start to the Indian inning, Rohit smashed 40 runs in just 26 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes, taking Lungi Ngidi and Jansen to the cleaners.

Kagiso Rabada got rid of the Indian skipper and then Virat Kohli joined Gill. Shortly afterwards, Gill dispatched Jansen for a 90m six on the third ball of the seventh over of the Indian inning.

The youngster stepped down the pitch and launched a massive hit over mid-on, which seemingly irked Jansen who gave Gill a stare but before things could get worse, Kohli had a word with Shubman.

Shortly after the faceoff between Gill and Jansen, the Indian opener was dismissed on 23 courtesy of a sharp-turning delivery from Keshav Maharaj that bamboozled Shubman.

The ball pitched outside leg stump but turned sharply inside and clipped the top of the bails which completely took Shubman Gill by surprise. The wicket put the brakes on a smash-bang start from the first ten overs during which India scored 91 runs, but in the next ten overs, the Men in Blue could only score 33 runs.
