The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) was scheduled to publish the seat allotment result for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET PG) Counselling 2023 for round 3 on September 16. However, there has been a delay in the release of the seat allotment result and an official update from MCC is also updated. Candidates who are eagerly awaiting the publication of round 3 seat allotment results have urged the MCC to issue a notification regarding the delay or any update in the announcement of the seat allotment results.
The delay in the round 3 seat allotment result comes amid increased pressure from students and medical groups to lower the NEET PG 2023 cut-off percentile. Their demand is based on the fact that every year, seats remain unfilled, and many students are denied entrance due to high cut-offs.
Doctors’ organisations such as the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the United Doctors’ Front Association (UDFA) have written to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and the National Medical Council (NMC) urging that the qualifying cut-offs be reduced.
The IMA has asked that the cut-off percentage be reduced by up to 30 per cent in order to fill seats in both clinical and non-clinical branches. While some students have petitioned the commission to lower the cut-off by 10 to 15 marks.
