NMC Warns Against Fake Letter Regarding CPS Diploma Programme
The fake PGMEB letter discussed the examinations, instructions, and acknowledgment of diploma holders from the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS)

The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently released a notice warning candidates about a fake letter that has been issued regarding the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS) Diploma course under the name of the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) secretary. The notice is currently available on the main site of NMC at nmc.org.in.

“It has come to the notice of the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) that a letter dated 29.05.2023 with the signature of Under Secretary, PGMEB regarding students under the training of CPS Diploma Course, future training examination and recognition is being circulated. The said letter is fake and has not been issued by the PGMEB,” reads the official notice on NMC.

Meanwhile, the fake letter stated that 1,386 enrolled students in the CPS course are in the training phase at the moment. These students were selected through NEET PG-2021. On May 26, 2023, a special committee meeting for the PGMEB and CPS course was held about this issue, the fake notice added. Furthermore, the PGMEB is worried about these students’ futures. The fake letter further provided these students with solutions.

In addition to the MD/MS courses (64,000) and the Diplomate of the National Board (2700) offered by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Science, the CPS courses offer medical students a third option for post-graduate study.

On the other hand, through a notice dated December 21, the NMC has called all medical colleges and universities in the country to request information on the approximate number of 2018 MBBS batch students who are completing internships after passing the Final Main Examination and the internship completion date.

This is being done to evaluate the 2018 MBBS batch’s internship completion timeline so they can sit for the upcoming National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) in 2024. For this reason, the commission is sending out a link to a Google Form to all college and university registrars. The notice published by NMC specified that December 25 is the deadline for submitting the form.
