Petrol, Diesel Prices Unaltered for Tenth Consecutive Day: Check Today’s Prices in Metro Cities
The price of petrol in New Delhi stands at Rs 91.17 per litre, Rs 91.35 in Kolkata, Rs 93.11 in Chennai and it remains the highest among the four Metros in Mumbai at Rs 97.57.

Petrol and diesel prices were unaltered for the tenth consecutive day on March 9 across Indian states. In the international market, Brent crude jumped over $70 a barrel on Monday for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began. According to reports, following attacks on Saudi Arabian facilities, Brent climbed as high as $71.38 a barrel in early Asian trade, its highest since January 8, this year. While the US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was down $1.04 at $65.05, its highest in more than two years.

The retail fuel prices reached a record high on Saturday, February 27 when the rate of key fuel went up by 24 paise and by 15 paise for diesel per litre each. Remained unaltered for the tenth consecutive day. Currently, the price of petrol in New Delhi stands at Rs 91.17 per litre, Rs 91.35 in Kolkata, Rs 93.11 in Chennai and it remains the highest among the four Metros in Mumbai at Rs 97.57.

Similarly, the price of diesel too remained unchanged. Currently the diesel rates stood at Rs 81.47 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 84.35 in Kolkata, Rs 88.60 in Mumbai and Rs 86.45 in Chennai.

In several other parts of India, including some cities in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, petrol prices have crossed Rs 100 per litre. The price of retail petrol remained steady at Rs 101.84 in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar, whereas diesel is available at Rs 93.77 per litre. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh’s Anuppur, petrol costs Rs 101.59 per litre and diesel is retailing at Rs 91.97.

After remaining unchanged for almost a month, prices of both the fuels have recorded an upswing in the past two months of this year. The price of the key fuel has gone up by Rs 4.87 per litre while diesel rates shot up by Rs 4.99 per litre during this period.
