In its effort to take the Ram Janmabhoomi message to households across the rural hinterland in the country, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliates will embark on a ‘door-to-door’ campaign from January 1 to January 15 targeting at least 10 crore people.
The organisation will form small teams of its volunteers, which will connect with the people to spread ‘Ram Katha’ that includes his life, his rule and an invitation to all to join the pranpratistha utsav of ‘Ram Lalla’ in Ayodhya on January 22, a senior functionary of the RSS told News18.
After the coordination meeting of the RSS and its affiliate organisations in Bhuj early this month, Dattatreya Hosable, RSS general secretary, said the RSS volunteers will reach out to households across states
to invite people for the ‘pran pratishtha’ programme in Ayodhya. The senior functionary of the RSS has marked this programme as one to unite Hindus.
The RSS has already taken up several initiatives to make the national narrative revolve around Ayodhya, Ram and Ram Janmabhoomi. Apart from reaching out to influential people from the social-cultural-political fronts, the organisation has started curating speeches of important people related to Ram-Sita and the culture of this country. The campaign on social media and on ground has already started, added the senior functionary.
COUNTERING ‘DIVISIVE’ AGENDAS
The RSS is also planning to counter all political campaigns by the Opposition, including the Congress, through the outreach programme. The idea of having a caste census and bringing in the issue as part of the election campaign looks like a ‘ploy’ to divide Hindus on the caste lines, said another senior functionary.
The functionary added that the RSS has always preached for a society where there would be no caste divide. “Caste discrimination is bad and we have always maintained it. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat ji has mentioned it in all his speeches and also blamed caste bias for conversion. Lord Ram did not believe in caste, he never divided people. We have been preaching about Ek Mandir Ek Shamsan (one temple, one crematorium) for all," he said.

“We do not have a problem with the economically backward people getting government benefits and reservation. We do not even have an issue with backward castes coming to the forefront through the government programmes. But one has to see through what the Congress is trying. The caste data is available with the government. During the census, the government collects caste data, but it was not made public for a reason," he added.
Expressing doubt about the political motive of Congress leaders, he further said, “As long as the caste survey in the states are concerned, people may ask the Congress why they did not do it over the past five years, while they were in power or earlier where they were even in power at the centre? We, from the Sangh, will try to unite everyone in the name of Ram."
