Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was recently quizzed about India’s chance of winning the World Cup, to which the ‘Hitman’ gave a noteworthy reply. With the Men in Blue undefeated so far in the ODI World Cup 2023 having won all of their seven group-stage games, fans have high expectations from the Indian team.
Rohit and Co. recently defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs and sealed their place in the World Cup semifinals, becoming the first team to achieve the feat. After their triumph in Mumbai, the Indian team jetted off to Kolkata for their next challenge against South Africa.
The Proteas are second in the World Cup points table behind India, having lost just one game so far in the tournament. The clash in Eden Gardens on 5 November could well decide which team will finish on top of the table.

When the Indian team were at the airport, ready to leave for Kolkata, a fan quizzed Rohit Sharma whether the World Cup was coming home after a gap of 12 years.
“World Cup apna hai na (the World Cup is ours?),” quizzed a fan to which the Indian skipper replied that there is still time and plenty of matches left.
“Abhi time hai, (there is still time),” replied the 36-year-old. A video of the exchange between Rohit and the fan has gone viral on social media.

The Indian team have been in phenomenal form so far, having won all of their seven group game as they look in red-hot form coming into the top-of-the-table clash against South Africa.
Rohit Sharma and Co. will be hoping to end a decade-long wait for the first ICC trophy since India last won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
The Indian captain himself has been leading from the front, he has smashed 402 runs in seven games and is in sixth place among the top run-scorers in the tournament, with former skipper Virat Kohli in second place behind Quinton de Kock.
