The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is slated to probe the alleged onion procurement scam, involving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi.

The ACB is headed by an IPS officer who is perceived to be anti Arvind Kejriwal. A five-member team has been constituted for the probe.

This comes after RTI activist Vivek Garg accused the AAP government of buying onions at Rs 18 per kg and selling it at nearly double the price – Rs 30 per kg – even as it claimed to sell onions at subsidised rates.

Sources in the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that it was “nothing but a defamatory campaign".

Arvind Kejriwal government had published a full page advertisement in newspapers denying that it had bought precious onions at Rs 18 per kilo but sold it at almost double the price. The government had reportedly spent Rs 23 lakh on full page advertisement, rubbishing the allegations.

RTI activist Garg had met the joint commission of police in this regard on Tuesday.
