Former Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh during his interrogation in the case blamed Chavan for the controversial housing allotments.
New Delhi: Former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan on Saturday deposed before the judicial commission probing the Adarsh Housing Society scam. He is the third former Maharashtra chief minister to do so.
Chavan was accompanied by hordes of supporters on his way to the probe venue. A heavy police presence was around.
Chavan was forced to resign in 2010 after the scam came to light.
The CBI said it was Chavan who first proposed the inclusion of civilians in the housing society.
His deposition assumes even greater significance as his predecessor Vilasrao Deshmukh on Thursday blamed him, who was the revenue minister under him, for the controversial allotments.
