18. Aizawl South-I is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Mizoram and is part of Mizoram Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Aizawl South-I falls in Aizawl district and Aizwal region of Mizoram. It is categorised as a urban seat.
There are a total of 21,529 voters in the seat, which includes 9,998 male voters, and 11,531 female voters. In the 2018 Mizoram elections, Aizawl South-I recorded a voter turnout of 77.09%. In 2013 the turnout was 81.3%, and in 2008 it was 80.6%.
In 2013, R Vanlalvena of INC won the seat by a margin of 1,296 votes (7.94%). R Vanlalvena secured 39.59% of the total votes polled.
ZNP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 28 votes (0.2%), registering 31.82% of the total votes polled.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, IND led in the Aizawl South-I Assembly segment of the Mizoram Parliamentary/Lok Sabha constituency.
