New Delhi: After Sushma Swaraj, BJP's New Delhi constituency candidate Vijay Goel goofed up in an election rally when he said he would do "everything possible to ensure defeat" of the saffron party in the coming Lok Sabha election.
Addressing a rally at Safdarjung area, Goel said, "I will do everything possible to ensure defeat of BJP in Delhi... We will work together to ensure their defeat." However, realising his mistake, Goel clarified that it was a slip of tongue.
Embarrassed BJP leaders on the dais including General Secretary Arun Jaitley and senior leader V K Malhotra looked at each other when Goel made the comment.
Later speaking at the election rally, Jaitely criticised UPA's economic policies saying the unemployment problem became acute as lakhs of youngsters have lost their jobs during the alliance's regime.
He also attacked UPA for quashing POTA claiming that after quashing the Act, the government realised the need for a tougher law in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Jaitely slammed the government for raising prices of essential commodities saying the wrong economic policy is responsible for the economic woes of the country.
Malhotra highlighted the key features of the BJP's manifesto and claimed that if NDA comes to power, the country will again return to the path of development.
