New Delhi: NCSC chairman Buta Singh on Monday said he will cooperate with the CBI in the probe into the alleged bribery case against his son but insisted that there was a "political conspiracy" against him and he will come out with the names of the conspirators at an "appropriate time".
"I am ready to cooperate with the CBI under the proper procedure," he told reporters here at his residence.
Singh, however, said that he never blamed CBI for any thing but doubted the manner in which the investigating agency came up with a case against his son.
"I have not blamed CBI. I am only doubting the manner the agency has adopted (in the case). Ram Rao Patil had been an absconder, wanted by police and court.I am surprised, how CBI could track him down when local police failed in doing so," Singh said.
"I have a question that when he (Rao) came in hands of such a competent legal authority, why CBI did not hand him over to police or court where he was wanted first," Singh added.
To a question as to who was behind the conspiracy, Singh said, "Why should I take their name...One thing that I know that he (conspirator) is very close to a political party. I will not say any thing beyond this. I will come out with the names (of conspirators) at an appropriate time."
