New Delhi: A day after CNN-IBN exposed balance sheets showing unsecured corporate loans made to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s Kalaignar TV by 2G beneficiaries, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy said that there is enough proof against the DMK supremo with the CBI.
“As far as the connection to Karunanidhi is concerned, I already have an application pending in the trial court for including him as an additional co-accused under section 319 (power to proceed against other persons appearing to be guilty of offence),” Swamy said.
“I am entitled to do that, I can bring in people. I already have connections via the Salauddin angle and Genex which really goes straight to him.” Yesterday your channel (CNN-IBN) had brought out in very great detail what in my opinion is clinching prima–facie evidence for making Karunanidhi a co-accused. As far as conviction comes, more evidence will come. There is plenty of records with the CBI,” Swamy said.
He also said that Karunanidhi and his daughter Kanimozhi will be under the scanner. He said,” Kanimozhi has no capacity to have any money. You see her statement of wealth which she has given as a candidate that clearly shows she is worth some 60 crore or something. How can this young girl get 60 crore? CBI has got everything. In my opinion, it is only a matter of days, before the CBI sends her a questionnaire which is a preliminary to registering an FIR.”
Swamy had accused Karunanidhi of being involved in the 2G spectrum allocation scam following which the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister issued a legal notice on Sunday to the Janata Party President demanding retraction of his 'statement' linking him to the scam within 24 hours.
