Congress MLA and Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique Resigns From Congress After 48 Years
Taking to his official X account, the Congress MLA announced his resignation from the party after being associated for nearly 48 years

Congress MLA Baba Siddique, representing the high profile Bandra area in Mumbai announced his resignation from the Congress on Thursday.

A prominent minority face of the Mumbai Congress, Siddique also served as a minister when the Congress-NCP coalition was in power.

Taking to X, Siddique said, “I joined the Indian National Congress party as a young teenager and it has been a significant journey lasting 48 years. Today I resign from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress Party with immediate effect.”

While thanking everyone who has been a part of his journey he said that there’s a lot that he would have liked to express but some things are better left unsaid.

As per reports, the Congress MLA is suspected to be joining the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

The move comes days after the Election Commission of India recognised the Ajit Pawar faction as the real National Congress Party (NCP).

Earlier in January this year, Congress leader Milind Deora resigned from Congress, ending his family’s 55-year-old relationship with the grand old party.

Talking to the media over his resignation from Congress, Deora had said, “I am walking on the path of vikas (development).”
