Congress Slams Kejriwal for Changing AAP Candidates for Punjab Polls
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee leaders take a dig at Arvind Kejriwal for replacing its Dharamkot and Bhoa candidates.

Chandigarh: The speed with which AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal is changing party candidates for the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls speaks of his desperation and mental instability, state Congress unit charged on Saturday.

Taking a dig at AAP for replacing its Dharamkot and Bhoa candidates after they accused the leadership of graft in ticket distribution, the Congress unit said, "The development reflects his mental instability and is a clear sign of the deep-rooted mess in the party."

A statement by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee leaders Ranjit K Bhatti, Satpal S Mulewal and Ajit Inder Mofar said the "excuses" being given by Kejriwal's team for re-allocation of tickets "speak of extreme desperation" of party leadership.

"While ticket allocation is an internal matter of any party, the fact that the Dharamkot candidate's replacement came within hours of Moga candidate Vinod Kumar, making serious allegations of graft against AAP leadership, is suggestive and raises suspicions of something drastically wrong with the party," it said.

AAP had on Friday changed party's nomination from Dharamkot by replacing Ranjodh Singh Sran with Daljit Singh Sadarpura. It had also replaced Vinod Kumar with Amarjit Singh from Bhoa constituency.

The Congress leaders alleged that Kejriwal's "desperation" in the face of his party's "imminent wipe out" in the Assembly polls was clearly manifest in his "knee-jerk" reactions on ticket allocation.

They also recalled how Kejriwal had "backtracked" on the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) issue before going "completely mute" on the matter.
