Countdown For Pran-Pratishtha Begins: List of Politicians Who May Skip The Grand Ceremony
While most ministers and BJP leaders, who received the invitation, are expected to attend the grand ceremony, the majority of the opposition parties have decided to skip the event

With just a day for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Shri Ram Lala at the newly constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya, preparations are in full swing for the mega event in the sacred city. Thousands of VIP guests have received invitations from Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for the ceremony scheduled for January 22.

While about 8,000 people are on the long list of invitees, the 506 A-listers included prominent politicians, leading industrialists, top film stars, sportspersons, diplomats, judges and high priests.

Among politicians, while most ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders–who received the invitation–are expected to attend the grand ceremony, the majority of the opposition parties, which are part of the Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), have decided to skip the event.

Ram Temple Inauguration: Leaders Who Are Skipping The Event

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who were invited to the ceremony, will be skipping it.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also said that they will not attend the event on January 22.

Further, Maharashtra-based Shiv Sena-(UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar will also skip the consecration ceremony and said they’ll later visit the holy city for Ram Lalla’s Darshan.

Further, National Conference (NC) Chief Farooq Abdullah, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav and Communist Party of India (Marxist) Secretary-General Sitaram Yechury will not be part of the grand event in Ayodhya on Monday.

Other leaders who are also unlikely to attend the event include All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS), Former PM and Janata Dal (Secular) patriarch HD Deve Gowda and senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.

Preparation In Ayodhya For Grand Event

Barricades have been set up at the Ram temple site and other key areas like the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya and the entry of vehicles has been restricted as authorities prepare to host a large number of people, including many prominent personalities.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, business tycoons Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, and sporting icon Sachin Tendulkar are among India’s crème de la crème who have been invited as state guests.

Actors Akshay Kumar, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal and Allu Arjun among others, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, BJP president J P Nadda and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and several sitting and former judges, including Ranjan Gogoi have also been included in the state guest list.
