Sambhal: Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Sunday shared the dais with Muslim Cleric Maulana Tauquir Raza Khan in Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. This comes days after the Congress slammed the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for meeting Raza.
"The speech that Tauquir Raza made today has silenced his critics, he has rightly asserted that the country belongs to everyone," said Digvijaya.
"It's evident that he works towards communal harmony," he added.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal's meeting with controversial cleric Tauquir Raza has attracted fierce criticism and put the party on the back foot. However, in a damage control mode last week, Kejriwal released a video which showed Tauquir with a Shankaracharya and preaching communal harmony.
"We have to create an atmosphere of communal harmony through Hindu Muslim unity. We have to maintain good relationship with the Hindus," Tauquir Raza is heard saying in the video. Tauqir Raza Khan is perceived to be a hardline Muslim.
