Moradabad: While the Kanth area of Moradabad city is limping back to normalcy after tension broke out between two communities, riot-accused MP Sangeet Som has claimed that he was unfairly being targeted over the issue.
However, the Moradabad Police has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party for communal tension in the area.
"MP Sarvesh of BJP is responsible for the violence," said the Moradabad SSP. He added that such a situation was created eyeing the local by-poll. "Administration is ready to face the 48 hour deadline given by the BJP. If they want loud speakers, they would have to take permission," he added.
Violent protests broke out in Kanth area of Moradabad on Friday over holding a 'Mahapanchayat' during which BJP leaders including four MPs and MLA Sangeet Som were detained.
The 'mahapanchayat' or gathering was called by the state BJP in defiance of the state order, after a recent tension in Kanth, over removal of a loudspeaker from a temple.
BJP MP Sangeet Som who was detained with two more parliamentarians said, "Muslims there had no problem with loudspeaker in the temple, it was state administration which brought up the issue."
He added, "Don't know why I am targeted always,it was police which did partial inquiry."
