The BJP on Friday launched a scathing attack on Congress party’s election manifesto for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls for allegedly using photos of New York and Thailand in it. BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi raised questions on the ‘seriousness’ of the Congress party’s manifesto saying the picture used in the document was from Rahul Gandhi’s “favourite destination” Thailand.
‘Rahul Gandhi’s Favourite Destination Thailand’
“There is a picture on water management in the Congress manifesto. This picture is of the Buffalo River in New York state. Till now they have not been able to find out who was tweeting from their Social Media chairperson’s Twitter, but who sent them this picture? Under the Environment section, a picture from Rahul Gandhi’s favoured destination, Thailand has been put. Who is putting all this in their manifesto?” the BJP leader said.

Congress on Friday released its manifesto for the upcoming elections focussing on the five ‘pillars of justice’. The manifesto was released by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
In its manifesto, the Congress emphasised ‘Paanch Nyay’ or five pillars of justice, including ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Hissedari Nyay’ as well as the guarantees made by it to the people as part of its poll promises for 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The grand old party also promised the right to apprenticeship, a legal guarantee for MSP, and passing a constitutional amendment to raise the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs in its election manifesto.
“They have called the manifesto Nyay Patra after doing injustice to all sections of the country for all these years,” Sudhanshu Trivedi further said.
‘Congress Borrowing Foreign Photos For Their Manifesto’
“It’s not a big issue that wrong photos have been used. But it is concerning these photos are of foreign entities. Until now, they have been going abroad and defaming India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But now they are borrowing foreign photos for their manifesto,” the BJP leader was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.
‘Congress Manifesto Looks Like Holiday Itinerary For Rahul Gandhi’
BJP leader Amit Malviya took a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips saying “looks like the Congress forgot that it is preparing a manifesto for India and not putting together a holiday itinerary for Rahul Gandhi!”
“What else explains using a picture of Thailand under the Environment section? It shouldn’t be a surprise if Rahul Gandhi dashes off to Thailand, for yet another holiday, soon after the election,” Malviya wrote in an X post.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also reacted to the manifesto and asked whether a foreign agency was hired to draft the manifesto.
“Cong manifesto promises to remove an elected State Govt, restore triple talaq, makes a U turn on OPS, has no delivery date on any of its promises, lacks a plan to harness benefits of Industry 4.0 and worst of all passes pictures from Thailand & America as that of India,” the Assam CM posted on X.
