New Delhi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is looking for an honourable exit for its leader Shibu Soren from the chief ministership of the state. JMM leaders met Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Gadkari at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday to press for an honourable exit for Soren.
Soren's son, Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Raghubar Das, All Jharkhand Students Union chief Sudesh Mahato, state Janata Dal(United) leader Jaleshwar Mahato, former BJP president Rajnath Singh, party General Secretary Anant Kumar and General Secretary (organisation) Ramlal were present at the meeting at Gadkari's residence in a bid to end the political crisis in the state.
After the meeting ended IST Ananth Kumar addressed the media saying the meeting was positiveand added that discussions would continue.
"Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh met all allies from Jharkhand. Hemant Soren, Sudesh Mahto, Raghuvar Das and other leaders were present. We discussed the letter written by Soren. Talks have been positive and will continue. We will update the media on future developments. We discussed how our alliance has been running the government in Jharkhand and how we have kept the Congress away,:" said Kumar.
Sources say JMM wants Soren to remain the Chief Minister till June 30. Soren has to win a seat in the state Assembly by then, if he has to remain the Chief Minister of the state.
The meeting was called after a section of JMM leaders expressed willingness to let the BJP choose a chief minister.
The decision though has split the JMM. JMM MLA Teklal Mahto has reportedly sent feelers to the Congress, seeking its support to form a new government in the state.
The BJP had withdrawn support to the Jharkhand government after Soren voted with the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government on the cut motion in the Lok Sabha. But the withdrawal of support was put on hold after the JMM gave the offer of the chief ministerial chair to the BJP.
