The Karnataka government has initiated a probe into an alleged drug scam worth Rs 1400 crore. The alleged scam took place under the National Rural Health Mission under the Health and Family Welfare department.
A former BJP Corporator has alleged that the government bought medicines at a rate higher than the market price. It's alleged that the Health Ministry awarded tenders for medicine supply to government hospitals, to bogus companies.
Ministry has refuted charges saying a white paper will be issued in a week.
"These are baseless allegations. There are no documents of proof. I had a meeting with our department and checked all the documents - and all allegations are false. We appreciate his concern but he has alleged blindly. But we want him to name the 15 bogus companies," Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader said.
