Thiruvananthapuram: After expressing his willingness to resign , Kerala Finance Minister KM Mani on Tuesday laid down a condition for his resignation which put Chief Minister Oomen Chandy in a spot.
Mani said his resignation was conditional and he would only resign if other Kerala congress ministers resign along with him.
Conforming to this condition, Kerala government chief whip Thomas Unniyadan expressed his desire to resign along with Mani but Kerala Congress minister PJ Joseph refused to do the same.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kerala MLA PC George, who was the government's chief whip before Unniyadan, resigned saying Mani should also follow suit.
After a few hours following George's resignation, Mani expressed his willingness to resign in the steering committee meeting of the state Congress in connection with the bar bribery scam.
However, Mani's party Kerala Congress (M) said it saw no reason for its leader to step down, a day after high court cleared the decks for further investigation against him in the case.
