Ranchi: Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda has thumbed his nose at the investigators by openly addressing election rallies in Jharkhand while saying that he has time for being interrogated in a multi-crore scam.
Koda is busy campaigning for a newly launched party - the Jharkhand Nav Nirman Morcha and is also organising a rally to show off his strength in home turf Chaibasa.
Addressing the rally Koda said that he would give a befitting reply to those defaming him by winning more seats in the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
"I am ready to face all the punishment but I will give a befitting reply to all those who are trying to defame me by winning more seats in the assembly," said Koda.
His decision to continue campaigning for his wife and seven other candidates has embarrassed Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax authorities who have, for weeks, now been asking him to come to Delhi for questioning.
Now the ED has set Thursday (November 19) as a date to question Koda in Ranchi.
Koda has been insisting he would rather be interrogated only once the elections for Jharkhand Assembly are over. While maintaining his innocence, Koda has threatened to expose big wigs who were out to frame him.
Koda has been accused of being the leader of a multi-crore corruption scam involving money worth nearly Rs 4000 crore. He is accused of buying assets including hotels, companies and mines in Mumbai, Kolkata, Thailand, and even in in Liberia.
The ED has already filed an Enforcement Case Information Report before the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi against Koda along with with three of his Cabinet colleagues Kamlesh Singh, Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Bandhu Tirkey, besides five others.
