Manohar stopped me from giving details: Modi
Modi had written an email to all IPL franchises, to BCCI and IPL Governing Council members on April 14.

Mumbai: IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi hit back at his detractors on Wednesday, claiming he was ready to disclose all franchisee holdings to IPL Governing Council members in emails a week ago but was stopped by BCCI President Shashank Manohar and Arun Jaitley. CNN-IBN has got access to the emails Modi intended to send to the members.

Modi had written an email to all IPL franchises and to BCCI and IPL Governing Council members on April 14. BCCI President Shashank Manohar replied the next day, saying "the issue is complex and needs detailed deliberations and has legal implications and can be considered at the governing council meeting." Arun Jailey endorsed Shashank's proposals.

Modi's letter:

April 14, 2010

Dear Friends

Propriety and fair play demand we should as public body disclose ownership details along with name of directors of all franchisees once again. Earlier we at the time of bidding only disclosed the names and share holding. If everyone is okay with this we will issue the same right away, that way all doubts and aspirations being cast on IPL franchises and members of GC appropriately rebutted. I hope you all agree with the same.

Warm Regards

Lalit Modi

Chairman and Commissioner IPL

Shashank's reply to Modi:

Apr 15, 2010 9:17 AM

Dear Lalit,

The issue is complex and needs detailed deliberations and legal implications need to be gone into and hence can be considered at the GC meeting where all documents and papers relating to the bids are available.

Arun Jaitley's reply:

I endorse Shashank proposal.

Regards.

Arun Jaitley

Franchisees dump:

Modi's supporters appear to be deserting him. Just a day after IPL franchise owners put their weight behind him, sources say all IPL team owners have unanimously refuted reports of going against the BCCI in its bid to oust Modi. The owners have maintained that they will abide by the BCCI's decision with regard to the new IPL chairman.

Modi has asked the BCCI to postpone its Governing Council meeting from April 26 to first week of May. However, sources say, BCCI is likely to go ahead with the meeting on April 26 and will vote Modi out even if the latter doesn't attend the meeting.

"We wanted this disclosed in a full Governing Council meeting. We wanted to know who are the individuals in Mauritus-based companies that have holdings in Kolkata, Jaipur and Kings XI. Some of these Mauritius companies could be linked to Modi."

What's your reaction?
