Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff had invited the new PM to watch the FIFA World Cup 2014 finals earlier this month.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend the final of the ongoing FIFA World Cup, said Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday.
The final matches of the month-long tournament will be played on July 13.
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff had invited the new PM to watch the FIFA World Cup 2014 finals earlier this month.
Modi had earlier also released commemorative postage stamps on the 2014 World Cup. He had then noted that India had a glorious history in football, and it was at one time a prominent sport across the country. He had also said that India is preparing to host the under-17 FIFA World Cup.
