Most Gujarat ministers re-elected
Most ministers in Modi's cabinet were re-elected for a fresh term.

Ahmedabad: Most ministers in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet were re-elected for a fresh term on Sunday.

Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala (Rajkot-II) and Industry Minister Anil Patel (Mehsana) won, while Minister of State for Home and Modi confidant Amit Shah led in Sarkhej.

Among other notable Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winners were veteran legislator Mahendra Mashru (Junagadh) and Dillep Sanghani (Amreli), a close friend of Modi.

For the Congress, opposition leader in the outgoing assembly, Arjun Modhavida (Probandar), romped home, and so did central minister Shankarsinh Vaghela's son Mahendrasinh Vaghela (Meghraj).

Among the BJP rebels, Nalin Bhatt, fighting as a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate from Sayajiganj in Vadodara, was trailing.

In Godhra, the site of the train burning tragedy of February 2002, CK Raulji of the Congress was ahead of Prabhatsinh Chauhan (BJP).

Naresh Kanodiya (BJP), a popular Gujarati film star, was trailing in Karjan.

Mukul Sinha, a lawyer who fought legal battles for victims of the communal violence, was trailing in Shahpur.
