Patna: NITISH Kumar is very much the leader of the Mahagatbandhan or the grand coalition ruling Bihar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav told CNN-News18 on Thursday seeking to put an end to speculation that the release of don-politician Mohammed Shahabuddin had created cracks in the ruling JDU-RJD combine.
"BJP wants to create confusion between us. I will sort out all the confusion with Nitish," Lalu said, asserting that the understanding between RJD and JDU were intact.
The don-turned-politician, a long-time follower of Lalu, was released on Monday from Bhagalpur jail after he secured bail in all his cases including several murder charges.
His bail invited allegations that the Nitish government that had come to power on strength of its track record of restoring law and order in Bihar had gone soft on the Don from Siwan due to political compulsions.
Shahabuddin’s release and the in-your-face reception he received outside the jail with several ministers in attendance had given a new lease of life to BJP’s poll time allegation that with
Lalu as partner, it was a matter of time that Bihar collapsed back to the days of ‘Jungle Raj’.
