Thiruvananthapuram: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kerala. Addressing a public meeting in the state, which will elect a new government in a few months, he has asked senior Congress leaders to stand united and fight in the Assembly elections.
Raul said, "The main aim of Narendra Modi and RSS, the way they win elections is by dividing Hindus and Muslims."
Elaborating the issue, he added that there are two types of campaigning - one campaign which everybody sees - development. The other underground which is poisonous.
He said, "PM comes up with an idea to do a media event on that and then move to another idea. PM said MNREGA is a useless programme. Only reason he is not shutting it down is he wants the people to realise the Congress's mistakes. But after analysing, the Finance Minister himself said it's a good programme. He promised the Congress that the economy will improve. Nothing has happened. PM tells congress president that Naga accord has been signed even when it was not done. This government is taking away all the powers given to poor people by the Congress. Taking away RTI, MNREGA etc from people."
Rahul said that the PM's vision is only about making slogans and they move from one slogan to another, but nothing happens in the end.
He has also asked the senior Congress leaders in Kerala to fight the elections as one team. He said, "Together we have much more strength than individually. My advice is stand together and stand as a family. Once the elections are over you are free to fight with yourself."
