DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE:
This General Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 20.92% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 0.02%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission, 2008. In 2012, Mahendra Kumar Singh of SP emerged victorious in this seat beating Ammar Rizvi of INC by a margin of 2,447 votes which was 1.39% of the total votes polled in the constituency. SP had a vote share of 28.08% in the seat.
