Puducherry: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address an election rally on April 5 in Puducherry to garner support for the Congress-DMK alliance in the Union Territory.
Speaking to reporters in Puducherry, Union Minister of State for Planning and Prime Minister's office V Narayanasamy said AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee would also campaign for alliance candidates on April 7 and 9 respectively.
Congress is contesting in 17 out of total 30 seats in the Union Territory while DMK its main ally in 10. The Pattali Makkal Katchi will contest two seats and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi one.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K V Thangkabalu said Sonia Gandhi was scheduled to arrive in Chennai on April 5 as part of election campaign.
She would share the dais with DMK president M Karunanidhi and a host of alliance party chiefs at a public meeting in the evening, he told reporters.
AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi would also participate in various poll meetings in the state, he said.
Congress is contesting in 63 seats for the April 13 assembly polls, while DMK in 121, PMK 30, VCK 10, Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam 7, IUML 2 and MMK 1.
