SP, BSP members clash in Lok Sabha
The clash in the Lok Sabha led to adjournment of the House for about an hour.

New Delhi: Members of Samajwadi Party and BSP on Tuesday clashed in the Lok Sabha and forced adjournment of the House for about an hour after the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh was accused of circumventing the democratic processes in the state.

During the Zero Hour, Dharmendra Yadav (SP) referred to the developments in the UP Assembly on Monday, saying the party has moved an Adjournment Motion to discuss the issue.

He alleged that the BSP government was using force to bulldoze its way by circumventing the democratic processes.

Yadav was expressing concern over the way certain bills were quickly passed in the UP Assembly yesterday amid din, ignoring protests from the entire Opposition.

He was supported by party members, some of whom rushed to the Well carrying placards reading "Loktantra ki hatyari sarkar ko barkhast karo (dismiss the government which has murdered democracy)."

BSP members immediately countered the charges against their government, leading to an uproar.

In the din, nothing could be heard and within minutes Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House for lunch.

Earlier, Congress member Jagdambika Pal raised the issue of police firing in Gautam Budh Nagar of UP yesterday on farmers protesting against land acquisition.

He demanded that acquisition of farmers' land should be stopped till a bill in this regard is brought in Parliament.
