Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday added fresh fuel to the controversy surrounding the Bhopal jail break by giving a religious overtone to the incident and asked how is it possible that only Muslim SIMI operatives escaped from the jail and not the Hindu ones.

Singh also attacked the Shivraj Singh-led Madhya Pradesh government and accused it of not acting on time even after several intel inputs that SIMI terrorists could escape.ALSO READ: Shivraj Chouhan Defends Encounter, Says Opposition Playing Vote Bank Politics

Citing these facts, the Congress leader demanded a detailed probe into the incident and said until a high court judge or the National Investigation Agency looks into the details of the case the truth won't be out.

Meanwhile, Union minister Kiren Rijiju slammed the Congress for passing the judgement merely on the basis of some video clips.

"We should stop having doubts on authorities and forces. Facts will come out," Rijiju said.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh BJP leader and former MP Home and Jail Minister Babular Gaur questioned the arrangements at the jail and asked,"How can SIMI operatives escape so easily?".

Claiming that Bhopal jail is one of the best jails in the country, Gaur sought a "a thorough probe" into the incident.

Noteworthy, the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad also joined other parties and demanded an independent enquiry into the Bhopal encounter.

Smelling something suspicious in the encounter, BSP chief Mayawati also sought a judicial probe. She also claimed that the accused were 'unarmed' and they could have been saved.

Union Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naida while questioning what the Opposition's statement said, "Some people are giving it a communal colour, this is cheap politics."

Attacking those raising questions over Bhopal encounter, Madhya Pradesh BJP president and MP Nandkumar Singh said, "Those raising questions over SIMI encounter are crying as if they are their cousins."
