Apple iPhone 7 Users: Please DO NOT Drill a 3.5mm Hole on it to Make Your Own Earphone Jack
Most users, reportedly, ended up destroying their iPhone 7 while drilling a 3.5mm jack for themselves.

As stupid as it might sound, iPhone 7 users are reportedly drilling a 3.5mm hole to insert their beloved headphones on the latest Apple creation. This comes after a video on YouTube with the title ‘Secret Hack To Get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7’ by TechRax went viral after it showcased that users can actually drill a 3.5mm headphone jack on their iPhone 7 to insert their good old headphones.

For those unaware, the new Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 do not come with the standard 3.5mm earphone jack. Users are either required to get a wireless headset to listen to music or use the complimentary adapter with their standard 3.5mm headphones.

The YouTube video came with the description-- This video is for those who don't want to get $159 wireless airpods or have to insert your headphones into an adapter every time you listen to music—was merely meant for fun. But sadly, several users seem to have taken it seriously.

Most users, reportedly, ended up destroying their iPhone 7 while drilling a 3.5mm jack for themselves.

What fuelled more specualtions was the fact that many believed that Apple has retained the headphone jack secretly inside the iPhone 7 and has purposely not made the 3.5mm hole, to force people into buying the new $159 wireless airpods.

Surprisingly, several users claimed that they had successfully drilled a 3.5mm hole on their iPhone 7, which worked perectly fine with their headphones. Some of the successful candidates even suggested that users should mark the exact location to drill to avoid problems.

If you are tempted to proceed with your drill machine, be sure to bid adieu to your brand new iPhone 7.

According to a iFixit teardown report of the iPhone 7, Apple has inserted a barometric vent in the space meant for the 3.5mm headphone jack.

So, drilling a hole will not help.
