New Delhi: In a first, NASA is offering videos of its space explorations and other such activities in 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution on YouTube, leveraging the site’s newly added ability to play 60fps videos.
The first 4K UHD video, posted by ReelNASA, provides a short glimpse of the International Space station’s activities.
The video’s description says that the new capability will allow researchers to acquire high resolution-high frame rate video to provide new insight into the vast array of experiments taking place every day, apart from offering some of the most breathtaking views of the Earth and space station activities.
A report on The Verge notes that while there have been 4K videos from the ISS in the past, they have typically been time lapses made from large batches of still photos, which required lots of time and editing.
While the ISS plans to add more 4K UHD videos, many computers still lack the ability to support such content.
