Netflix CEO Says Apple's Vision Pro Is Not 'Relevant' For Subscribers: Here's Why
Netflix said that Apple's Vision Pro may not be enough for it to be considered seriously and for the development of a dedicated application.

Apple Vision Pro went up for pre-order and is going to be available starting February 2 in the US. It’s safe to say that the mixed reality headset has performed decently, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claiming that Apple has already sold around 1.8 lakh units of the same.

However, it seems that this number, the niche market, and the overall target market may not be enough for Netflix to take the Vision Pro seriously and have a dedicated application for it. Yes, there’s no official Netflix app for the Vision Pro at launch, and if the company’s CEO is to be believed, there’s no sign that the streaming giant may bring the same anytime soon, and users may have to resort to using the web browser to watch it.

Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters, stating the same in an interview in Stratechery’s Daily Update podcast, claimed that it was “not by any unwillingness or lack of desire” that the company decided not to launch a dedicated app, but due to the fact that the company thinks that the $3,499 headset isn’t just worth it for many at this point in time.

“We have to be careful about making sure that we’re not investing in places that are not really yielding a return,” Peters said. “I would say we’ll see where things go with Vision Pro,” he added.

He is fixed on the belief that having a dedicated app for the Vision Pro won’t bring a benefit to the experience per se. “Certainly, we’re always in discussions with Apple to try and figure that out, but right now, the device is so subscale that it’s not really particularly relevant to most of our members,” the man added.

It is possible that the headset may change Netflix’s perception after a while, as it works with Apple. “Netflix and Apple have worked together for a long time, we’ve always had active discussions to how we could help each other out. Sometimes we find a great space of overlap. We can move very, very quickly. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer,” Peters further said.
