New York: The Twitter-owned video-sharing app Vine has been given a serious quality bump.
The upgrade, now available on iOS devices, means that six- and 12-second videos captured and shared by users will no longer look like they were filmed in the Lego dimension.
Just like with Instagram, which earlier this week started accepting 1080p image uploads, Vine has accepted that quality and smartphone performance have moved on and the service is being tweaked to account for the fact that nearly every new smartphone has a full 1080p HD display.
Vine videos started out at just 480p resolution but have been gradually improving in terms of quality.
However, the change is not automatic. Users will have to select the quality setting within the app's ‘Your Content' section.
