New Delhi: Samsung’s latest Galaxy Note 5 phablet has been rated the best for its display performance by screen tester DisplayMate.
A series of lab tests were conducted on the Note 4 successor and the new Galaxy S6 Edge+. DisplayMate President Raymond Soneira rated both the new Galaxy smartphones them high for their display performance.
However, it was the Galaxy Note 5 with its 5.7-inch Quad HD display that scored the highest. As compared to the Note 4 (previously rated the highest), the successor offers a much higher level of peak brightness, greater screen visibility and better readability under high ambient light conditions, Cnet reports.
With screen sizes and resolution been already maxed out by manufacturers, it the display performance that needs to be considered next when choosing a new smartphone as it is one of the elements linked to the battery performance.
The new smartphones use OLED displays which are thinner and lighter than LCD displays. Soneira calls the screen performance of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as the ‘crown jewel of the smartphone.’
The Galaxy Note 5 is also power efficient than the predecessor so it is able to achieve superior screen quality while consuming less battery power. It further scored high on offering absolute colour accuracy. Display Mate says the phone has ‘the best colour accuracy of any mobile display that we have ever tested, and delivering absolutely stunning and beautiful images.’
With slumping sales and market share, Samsung has been facing a rough time in the smartphone market where competitors are bringing out more affordable yet feature-laced devices. The South Korean giant is focusing on the curve screened Galaxy S6 Edge reiterations to regain some of the lost share.
