Top 5 Smartphones to Launch in 2019: Apple iPhone XI, Samsung Galaxy S10, OnePlus 7 And More
Here is a complete list of upcoming phones from OnePlus, Samsung, Vivo and Apple that will be released soon in India.

The last year 2018 was the year of the dual camera, notch display and the emergence of budget segment smartphones in Asia. Now, smartphone manufacturers are finally gearing up to unveil the foldable phone it's been prototyping for years, as well as new iPhones from Apple. Meanwhile, other Chinese brands like OnePlus, Vivo and Oppo had already demonstrated their prowess by cramming innovative features like in-display fingerprint scanners, pop-up selfie cameras and more. A lot of smartphones has already been confirmed by companies that are going to launch in January 2019, while some smartphones are rumored to come this month. Here is a complete list of upcoming phones that will be released soon in India.

Apple iPhone XI:

Several rumors claim that Apple's next flagship iPhone model will have three rear lenses that potentially have augmented reality functioning. Apple will reportedly be using new camera features like these to draw their audience to the 2019 model, likely to be released in September -- which will be difficult considering the already quickly growing anticipation for the 2020 generation.

In November, Fast Company noted Apple's plans to release its first 5G iPhone in 2020 which will be powered by Intel's 8161 5G modem chip, a release that may come a bit late considering some other phone giants' first 5G devices are slated for the first half of 2019. Samsung, Huawei, and OnePlus all revealed plans to release their own 5G handsets early next year.

OnePlus 7:

OnePlus 7 is slated to launch next year around May or June. According to leaks so far, OnePlus 7 will sport edge-to-edge display with waterdrop notch, three rear cameras, and up to 512GB built-in storage. There are reports that the company plans to launch two variants of OnePlus 7, one with 5G connectivity and another with 4G LTE. However, some even say that OnePlus’ 5G smartphone could be part of a new series. Even the possible features and specifications of OnePlus 7 is also quite easy to predict, thanks to the numerous leaks from 2018. Most recently, a photo went online in December and purportedly revealed the upcoming device will have a modular design.

Qualcomm hosted an event in December to launch the Snapdragon 855 where OnePlus CEO Pete Lau also confirmed OnePlus 7 as one of the first devices to carry the latest system-on-chip platform.

Samsung Galaxy S10:

Samsung is rumoured to announce the all new Galaxy S10 in a matter of weeks. Since it is going to be the tenth anniversary of the popular handset, the Korean tech giant is expected to make a big splash this year with up to three variants, including a high-end 5G enabled model. Known for sharing leaks around Samsung handsets, Ice Universe has posted a video on YouTube (watch the video below) which shows an alleged Samsung Galaxy S10+ case. The case fits around the Galaxy S9+ rather well. Notably, the S9+ has a 6.2-inch display while the S10+ is expected to feature a 6.4-inch display, which means that Samsung is going to add more real estate without making the device bigger. Cutouts for the USB-C port, volume rocker keys and the dedicated Bixby button are also aligned similar to last year’s model.

Aligning with the rumours, at the back there is a large cutout in the case for the horizontally mounted triple-camera setup. Samsung has been experimenting with triple and quad-camera setups with its A-series of smartphones, however, this year we could see them arrive on flagship products. As per a report, the Galaxy S10+ will have a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with a 78-degree field of view, a 16-megapixel super wide-angle lens with a 123-degree field of vision and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with a 45-degree field of vision.

Nokia 9:

Going by the latest leaks the Nokia 9 does not sport a notch, instead choosing to go the classic route of a top and bottom bezel. The rear gets a total of 5 cameras that form a hexagon formation and it uses ZEISS optics. It isn’t clear what the additional cameras are for but we are guessing that both telephoto and ultra-wide-angle lenses are available. If this is true, HMD Global would launch the world’s first smartphone with five cameras on the back after the CES in Las Vegas, and right before the MWC in Barcelona.

The smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. A recent leak indicated that it will run Android 9 Pie out of the box with a stock interface and pack a 4,150mAh battery, plus water and dust resistant capabilities. The phone houses five camera setup at the back. Out of the seven rings at the rear end, five are camera lenses, while sixth (on the left top side) is a dual-tone LED flash unit and seventh (opposite to the flash) is expected to be a dual-sensor for proximity detection. Other aspects of Nokia 9 that are more or less confirmed include the 5.9-inch display with QHD resolution and narrow bezels.

Vivo Nex Dual Display:

As Vivo's premium line-up, the NEX series offers not only an extraordinary user experience to consumers, it also unleashes our imagination towards the future of development of smartphones," Spark Ni, Senior Vice President, Vivo, recently said in a statement. There's a 6.39-inch Ultra FullView display with close to 91.63 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is pertinent to note that the front screen is free from any sort of notch or hole for a selfie camera.

There's an additional 5.49-inch Super AMOLED display on the phone's back. A "Lunar Ring" has been featured on the rear display that creates a glowing band of colours which can signify notifications and even pulse with music. NEX Dual Display Edition's camera setup consists of a 12MP dual-pixel main camera (with Sony IMX363 sensor and 4-axis OIS), a specialised night video camera and a time of flight (TOF) 3D camera.

The smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor and comes with 10GB RAM with 128GB storage. The smartphone also comes with in-display fingerprint sensor and camera with 3D sensing technology for enhanced facial recognition.
