Earlier this week, WhatsApp beta for iOS added the ability to include polls to WhatsApp Channels. Now, the popular Meta-owned chat app has finally announced that it is releasing the stable version of this feature for everyone.
In addition to polls, Channels—the one-way broadcasting tool—is also getting the ability to send voice notes and make up to 16 people admins. Plus, users can now even share a Channel update as their status.
“We’re announcing a bunch of new features for WA channels, including voice notes, multiple admins, and sharing to status and polls, which is great because I need help settling a debate,” Mark Zuckerberg said on the launch.
The addition of the voice notes feature to channels will allow creators to better communicate and engage with members in a more personal way. This is especially beneficial for creators who want to share their thoughts and ideas frequently.
Polls are another great way for creators to engage with their members. Polls can be used to gauge interest in a particular topic, gather feedback on a new idea, or simply to get to know your members better. Polls can also be used to promote discussion and debate within the channel.
In addition, the ability to quickly share channel updates as user status is a great way to promote channels and attract new members. When a user shares a channel update as their status, it will appear on their profile for all of their friends to see.
And coming to quality of life updates for Channel owners, the ability to appoint up to 16 people as admins is a major improvement. This will allow channels to have more manpower to manage the channel and to share updates quickly. This is especially beneficial for larger channels, where it can be difficult for a single person to manage everything.
That said, these updates bring much-needed stability to the Channels feature, and make it a more well-rounded addition to the overall WhatsApp experience.
