New Delhi: Did you come across a situation when you were on a call and had to write down one important detail but just couldn’t locate a pen or a pencil and tried to memorise the details, but later your memory ditched you? What if you could just scribble anything, anywhere and it quietly finds its way onto your smartphone?
Welcome, Phree- a smart pen that makes the world your paper. Developed by OTM Technologies, it is the world’s first unrestricted, high resolution, write-virtually-anywhere mobile input device.
Listed on Kickstarter, Phree lets you write, draw, or annotate anything on virtually any surface; from your car’s dashboard, your own palm, to the sofa arm. Possibilities with this digital pen are endless. It uses Optical Translation Measurement (OTM) technology that precisely tracks hand motion across virtually any surface, in a wide dynamic range.
You can connect the pen with a phone, tablet, laptop, or any device with a Bluetooth connection. It is compatible with software and apps like Office, OneNote, EverNote, Acrobat, Google Handwriting Keyboard, Viber and more. All that you need to do is connect it with the device of your choice and you are good to paint the world with your doodles, quite virtually.
The highlight of this device is it also functions as a headset and has an integrated screen for brief texts. So if you receive a message on Viber, you can instantly scribble it on a tree and it will show up in your phone screen. It can also be used as a Bluetooth mouse, a feature which is beneficial for both laptop and tablet users.
The pen is 8.5mm thick and weighs 30gms. OTM is also offering a case as an additional accessory. The product is expected to start shipping in March 2016 and come with a price tag of approximately $190.
