Shiv Thakare Turns 35: His Journey from Reality TV to Bigg Boss and Beyond
Shiv Thakare's transformation from a small-town resident to a recognised reality TV star is a testament to his perseverance and dedication.

Shiv Thakare, a prominent figure in Indian reality television, has won fans’ hearts with his charismatic presence. Born on September 9, 1989, in Amravati, Maharashtra, Shiv’s journey is both inspiring and humble. He supported his family by assisting his father at their pan store and also sold newspapers and milk packets to contribute financially.

His transformation from a small-town resident to a recognised reality TV star is a testament to his perseverance and dedication.

Shiv Thakare began his career in the entertainment industry by participating in MTV Roadies Rising, where he was part of Rannvijay’s gang and made it to the semifinals. He also gained recognition by winning MTV Antisocial. These early achievements helped pave the way for his successful career in reality television.

Shiv Thakare gained widespread fame as a contestant on Bigg Boss Marathi Season 2, which aired in 2018. His strategic gameplay and strong interpersonal skills earned him significant popularity, and he ultimately won the trophy that year, further cementing his status as a prominent reality TV star.

Following his victory on Bigg Boss Marathi, Shiv Thakare continued to make waves by participating in Bigg Boss 16, the Hindi version of the reality show hosted by Salman Khan. Although he did not win the show, he secured the position of first runner-up.

On Bigg Boss 16, Shiv was part of a strong bond with a few contestants who together called themselves the Mandali. The group included MC Stan, Abdu Rozik, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, Sajid Khan and Sumbul Touqeer.

Speaking to India Today about his friendship, Shiv said, “We enjoyed a lot and chilled together. Iss ghar mein aapko time nahi milta kyuki aap itne negative vibe mein rehte ho aur isme itni masti ho na, toh 100 days kaise nikal jaate hai aapko nahi pata chalta. (Inside the house where you are surrounded by negativity, if you get to enjoy with your friends, you won’t release how the 100 days pass by.)”

Shiv Thakare later participated in Rohit Shetty’s stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 13. He performed impressively throughout the season and made it to the finale.

In the final showdown, he competed against Dino James, Rashmeet Kaur, Aishwarya Sharma and Arjit Taneja. Despite his strong performance, Shiv was ultimately defeated by Dino James

He also decided to demonstrate his talent as a dancer and participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11.

However, he was eliminated before reaching the top 5 in the competition. Sharing about his journey on the show with ETimes, Shiv said, “Whether I win or lose, it is fine either way. For me, what matters is my journey on the show.”
