'Very Much in the Pipeline': Rohan Bopanna Excited to Perform Ahead of Paris Olympics 2024
Rohan Bopanna remains excited to perform ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024. However, there are other events he is set to take part in in his busy schedule.

Following his Australian Open doubles victory, the journey does not stop there for India’s Rohan Bopanna as he remains excited about delivering stellar performances in an attempt to bring pride to the nation once more.

The 41-year-old is currently top of the charts in the ATP doubles rankings and is now focused on the upcoming Masters events and is preparing for a busy schedule but is also eyeing to perform well in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

Speaking to ANI, Bopanna commented, “I think the Olympics is very much in the pipeline. It is going to be amazing that we will have a tennis team participating at the Olympics but before that I have a lot of Masters series like Indian Wells, Miami then the clay court season begins. We have the French Open and Wimbledon. So, we have so many events before the Olympics.”

The reigning doubles champion in the Australian Open had a stellar tournament and went on to set the record for the oldest winner in the tournament as well. Bopanna, 43, now surpasses Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer who won the French Open men’s doubles title along with partner Marcelo Arevola, at the age of 40.

He remains excited nonetheless for what is going to be a busy schedule. He added,” You know for the tennis calendar it is pretty busy. Every week there is a tournament. So, a lot of wonderful things to look forward to and excited for the season coming up.”

Partnering with the Italian, Matthew Edben, the pair went on to win the Australian Open doubles in dominant fashion beating their opponents in the first two sets, leaving no chance for a comeback. His win at Australia marked Bopanna’s second Grand Slam in his extensive career, with his only previous Grand Slam win coming at the 2017 French Open in mixed doubles, with Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski.

The number-one-ranked doubles player will aim to perform well in the Paris 2024 Olympics and aim to bring laurels to the nation once again. If he is to win a medal at the Olympics he would join Leander Paes to become the only two Indians who have won a medal in the prestigious event.
