AIIMS Student Claims He Pays Rs 15 Rent For Room With Bathroom In West Bengal
The student shared a series of pictures of his room on social media, explaining that he was provided with accommodation by his college at a subsidised rate.

With ever-increasing urbanisation, we mostly hear stories of skyrocketing rent and cramped spaces in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. While these instances continue to draw attention, a final-year MBBS student at AIIMS Kalyani, West Bengal, has managed to find a room with an attached bathroom for just Rs 15 per month. The student shared a series of pictures of his room on social media, explaining that he was provided with accommodation by his college at a subsidised rate.

Along with a picture of the room, he wrote, “I got this single room with attached washroom at a cost of ₹15 per month,” leaving social media users in disbelief. In the post, one could see a single room with a single bed, a study table and a bathroom in one corner.

Unconvinced by his claim, internet users questioned the authenticity of the same. Some even joked that he might have mistaken Rs 15,000 for Rs 15, while others shared that such rooms come at a hefty price in Mumbai or Gurgaon. A user wrote, “This room won’t come in less than Rs 12,000 in Mumbai or Gurgaon.”

Another joked, “I actually got a similar one for free when I was arrested.”

A user jokingly suggested, “I think you can sub-rent it for 15k. Lol, just kidding.”

“We get cream pav for Rs. 15 in Mumbai,” a comment read.

As one of the users asked about the logic behind such a low rent amount, the student explained, “They charge Rs 5,856 for 5.5 years, of which Rs 1,500 is a refundable amount at the end.”

He also shared a separate tweet, elaborating on the same with details about his college fees.

Earlier in September, a similar story from AIIMS Deoghar went viral, highlighting the facilities that MBBS students receive there. In the video, a student explained how he was required to pay only Rs 15 for a hostel room per month, which comes with a bed, study table, revolving chair and a cupboard. “The room also gets a 24/7 electricity supply that costs me Rs 4 per month,” he added.

The video went viral, drawing reactions from many over the institute’s amenities.
