Nicholas McCaffrey took over Sarah Storey and commenced his journey as Australia's new Deputy High Commissioner to India.

Diving into the exciting and new world of diplomacy, Nicholas McCaffrey has commenced his tenure as Australia’s new Deputy High Commissioner to India. Notably, he replaced Sarah Storey from the position, looking forward to working under the leadership of the Australian High Commissioner Philip Green in India. As McCaffrey embarked on a new diplomatic journey, he gave it a ‘desi’ twist by riding on an autorickshaw. Taking to his official X handle, the foreign diplomat shared a video of himself, where he can be seen driving the auto-rickshaw himself.

Entering the Australian High Commission, McCaffrey rode on the customised autorickshaw, adorned with the Indian Tricolour. As he stopped in front of the office, he greeted users with a warm ‘namaste’. “I am thrilled to start my position as the Deputy High Commissioner and work with our excellent High Commissioner Philip Green,” he said.

“Namaste India| Terrific to start as Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner in India, replacing the irrepressible Sarah Storey. Look forward to working with #TeamAustralia in India, under the leadership of @AusHCIndia Philip Green. #autorickshaw #dosti,” the caption of the video read.

Reacting to the video, social media users praised his efforts and humility. A user wrote, “Welcome to India. Yes you said Truth HE Shri Sarah Storey Is irreplaceable and their work and dedication they did to improve India Australia friendship”, while another one commented, “You’ll be pushing it to win hearts like Sarah so I do hope you go get fitted with a nice kurta and get started learning padmasana soon. If you get that right, Bob’s your uncle.”

“Congratulations this will indeed be a great posting. Wishing you the very best!” another one commented.
