Crossing the railway tracks on foot is generally prohibited. Even then, we come across many instances of passersby flouting such rules. However, this video of an elderly man narrowly escaping death as he crosses the railway tracks and jumps onto the platform moments before a Vande Bharat train arrives at high speed, has sent shivers down the spine.
After seeing the video which has taken the internet by storm, it appears as if the man could have died if he had been late by a fraction of a second. The old man with his dhoti tied around his waist, ran across the tracks and climbed onto the platform, defying the train’s speed.

The Vande Bharat Express class of trains have several special features, including higher speed, enhanced comfort and safety. They can attain a maximum speed of up to 160 kilometres per hour (99 mph), but it currently runs at a speed of 130 kilometres per hour, helping to reduce travel time between major cities.
