A US man named Greg Foster has achieved a remarkable feat by devouring India’s Bhut Jolokiya, one of the spiciest chillies globally, in just 30 seconds, solidifying his place once again in the Guinness World Records. A video was shared on the official Instagram page of Guinness World Records, featuring Foster consuming the spicy peppers with remarkable determination, thus achieving an impressive feat.

In the video footage, Foster is seen consuming one Bhut Jolokia after another, showcasing both speed and endurance. Upon completing the fiery challenge, he proudly sticks out his tongue. Guinness World Records commemorated the event with a caption on their Instagram page, stating, “Fastest time to eat 10 bhut jolokia chillis 30.01 seconds Greg Foster.” This marks yet another addition to Foster’s impressive collection of records involving the consumption of exceptionally spicy peppers.

This recent accomplishment is not Foster’s first foray into the world of extreme chilli eating. In December 2021, he secured a record for the fastest time to eat three Carolina Reaper chillies, accomplishing the challenge in a remarkable 8.72 seconds. Just a month earlier, in November 2021, he set a record for consuming the most Bhut Jolokia chilli peppers in one minute. Going back to 2017, Foster achieved another milestone by consuming the most Carolina Reaper chilli peppers in one minute, totalling an impressive 120 grams (4.23 ounces).

According to the Guinness World Records report, Gregory Foster’s passion for spicy food goes beyond breaking records; he even grows his own peppers at home. Having spent decades pushing his tolerance level for spicy foods, Foster has reached a point where he can stomach some of the world’s hottest peppers with ease.

Following his latest record-breaking feat, Foster shared his thoughts with Guinness World Records, stating, “This record attempt is a personal challenge to see how far I can push myself and my love of the super hot peppers.” Describing himself as a chilli lover, Foster emphasised his goal of raising awareness and excitement around super-hot chillies. He views these attempts as personal endeavours to achieve additional Guinness World Records alongside his existing ones, fueled by his love for chilli eating and pushing personal boundaries.

For the unversed, heat is measured in Scoville Heat Units (SHU). While a regular jalapeno pepper registers at about 5,000 SHU, the Carolina Reaper, one of Foster’s conquests, boasts an impressive 1.64 million SHU. Last year, it was surpassed by Pepper X, measuring an average of 2.69 million SHU. The Bhut Jolokiya, also known as the ghost pepper, sits at around 1 million SHU, making it one of the hottest peppers in the world.
