During elections in India, we witness some remarkable and intriguing scenes at polling booths. Whether it’s brides and grooms voting before their wedding or elderly citizens fulfilling their responsibilities, all these moments are truly special. Similarly, something unusual was witnessed during the recent Lok Sabha elections’ second phase in Wardha district, Maharashtra. Voters in the district were taken aback after they witnessed a man casually carrying a langur on his shoulder.
Identified as Vinod Kshirsagar, he introduced his unusual companion ‘Bajrang’ to the surprised onlookers. In a video shared by ANI, the man can be seen walking towards the polling booth with his pet, just like a parent carrying their child.
Surprisingly, Bajrang seemed perfectly comfortable on his owner’s shoulder. Later, Kshirsagar shared the story of how he formed a special bond with the animal after he rescued the langur from a dog.
The man said, “He has been with us for 3 months now, he was a small child, a dog had caught him, he had received 3 bites on his head, and then I brought him home. I have been nurturing him since then, he doesn’t leave anyone, he doesn’t go to anyone else, he stays with me only. I’ll take milk home, he stays with me, he even goes to the field with me, stays with me. He was also with me at the time of voting. I told him not to touch the button, he will sit on my shoulder. He is like our family, like my child. He doesn’t harm anyone. Those who are afraid, he shows more fear with them, otherwise, he is not afraid. He drinks milk like a child, eats grapes, eats apples.”
#WATCH | Vinod Kshirsagar says, "It (Langur) has been with me for the past 3 months. Stray dogs had attacked it and it received 3 stitches. It doesn't go to anyone else but just stays with me wherever I go…So, it accompanied me in voting too…It is like my child. It didn't… https://t.co/Fo30IrHs8R pic.twitter.com/jCM64GWq4V— ANI (@ANI) April 26, 2024

Another pointed out that since the langur was rescued as a baby, it’s natural for him to form a bond with its human. Although they felt that langur might have to be released back into the wild.
